There are several types of skin cancer, all of which have unique considerations for best treatment depending on a variety of factors: size, location, microscopic features, and age.
Mohs micrographic surgery offers the best clearance of common skin cancers while preserving the maximum amount of tissue prior to reconstruction. Mohs surgery is a specialized technique performed by a dermatologist.
Excisions, radiation, and electrodessication are other effective treatment options used for skin cancer. Your surgeon will help guide you to the treatment type that's the best for you and your priorities.
Dr. Porto has performed thousands of skin cancer surgeries.
